Woodbridge 3.3kW Off-Grid case study

Something a bit different for our off grid design and installation team.

We were asked to design, provide, and install an off grid solar PV system for a house boat ‘Barge Queenie’, with no access to mains electricity our customer wanted a way of generating and storing energy to use.

The panels were mounted using our TRIC mounting system. Due to its location rural and on a tidal estuary JA 280W modules were used, these have very high ammonia and salt test results. To keep an aesthetically pleasing finish an all black mono variety was chosen. 12 modules totaling 3.3kWp of generation feed into a Victron inverter which feeds the generated electricity into 8 Victron batteries with a capacity of 5.7kWh.
The system is controlled by a Victron Colour Control which also comes with a display allowing for easy viewing of the generated and stored energy.
