Making solar a little greener

We’ve been supplying solar panels across the UK and around the world for over a decade now, but trees have been charging themselves off of the suns rays for much longer, millions of years longer!

Starting in early 2022 we’re launching a new scheme, planting trees for every solar PV installation we complete.

Our vision

We are committed to making the world a greener place, offering renewable solutions for homes and businesses along the South Coast. We always strive to do better and one of the ways we are planning to do this is by planting trees, helping to reduce the ever increasing carbon output around the world. This is obviously a very big task, much bigger than we can tackle, but every little helps right?

These trees will be planted in The National Forest, right in the heart of England. Spanning 200 square miles of the Midlands across parts of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, and Staffordshire the new woodland aims to link two ancient Forests, Charnwood, and Needwood.

The National Forest

The National Forest was established in 1995, starting as just an idea it has grown into 200 square miles of mixed habitat forest. The Midlands had been left scarred from centuries of industrial coal mining, intensive farming, and other heavy industries. The forest is like a massive pair of green lungs, breathing life into the blackened landscape. Those who worked the land before continue to do so in different roles, such as foresters. From a single tree being planted, this forest saw its 9 millionth tree being planted in 2021. It has been recognised as one of the most ambitious regeneration projects in the UK.

The main towns of the forest include Burton-Upon-Trent, Coalville and Swadlincote, and the historic town of Ashby-de-le-Zouch. All of these towns are famous for various industries that were popular in the area, such as brewing, and coal mining.

As the National Forest continues to grow towards its goal of 10 million trees it continues to adapt, making the forest more accessible to everyone. Over 80% of the forest is now open to the public. How we’re getting involved

For every solar PV system we install on a home or business in the UK we will plant a tree. We’re also looking for other ways we can open this up to all of our customers.

Kicking off this scheme we’ll be working with The National Forest becoming a business partner. In addition to this we’ll plant additional trees throughout the year as we complete installations. These trees will be a mix of Oak, Lime, Wild Cherry, Silver Birch, Rowan, and Hazel.

In addition to this we’re aiming to work with the land owners where our offices and warehouses are based to regenerate some of the disused areas. We’ll be looking to plant some trees of our own here in Sidlesham, amongst beds of wildflowers. Creating a better habitat for bees, birds, and other wildlife.
