Local charities supported with funding from Wagner Renewables.

In 2025, Wagner Renewables, a Sidlesham-based solar PV and renewable energy company, continued its commitment to supporting local environmental and educational initiatives through its Eco-Funding programme. A total of £1,000 was awarded, with £250 granted to four local organisations delivering meaningful, long-term benefits to communities across West Sussex.

The Wagner Renewables Eco-Funding initiative is designed to support charities, schools, and community groups whose work aligns with sustainability, education, environmental protection, and community resilience.

“Supporting our local community has always been a core part of who we are at Wagner Renewables. Our Eco-Funding programme allows us to reinvest in projects that protect the environment, support education, and strengthen the communities we live and work in. As our business grows, we are proud to continue expanding this initiative and the positive impact it creates.”

Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital – Sidlesham

Brent Lodge Wildlife Hospital, based in Sidlesham, received Eco-Funding support to further its vital wildlife rehabilitation, education, and conservation work. With a legacy of more than 55 years, the charity provides care for sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, with the aim of releasing healthy animals back into their natural habitats.

The funding will help Brent Lodge continue its work across Sidlesham and Selsey, supporting biodiversity while also delivering education and public awareness initiatives that encourage responsible conservation and protection of local wildlife.

“Through our Respect & Protect Wildlife outreach programme we aim to raise awareness and engage young people in the local area to support wildlife conservation and their habitats. This generous funding will allow us to deliver engaging outreach visits, interactive Forest School Workshops, and community network programs that bring learning to life through hands-on outdoor experiences. By connecting young people directly with nature, we inspire environmental curiosity, foster conservation values, and nurture a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.”

Sidlesham Primary School – Outdoor Learning and Environmental Education

Sidlesham Primary School was awarded funding to enhance its outdoor learning and forest school provision. With on-site woodland and a strong focus on outdoor education, the school will use the grant to build bird boxes with pupils, upgrade tools and cooking equipment, and support Year 6 map-reading and navigation activities on the South Downs.

These projects help children develop practical life skills, improve mental health and wellbeing, and foster a deeper understanding of nature and environmental responsibility from an early age.

Chichester Forest Schools CIC – Lavant

Chichester Forest Schools CIC, based in Lavant, received Eco-Funding support for its Wild Play Family Support Group. This programme provides weekly, trauma-informed outdoor learning sessions for children and families experiencing isolation, disadvantage, or emotional challenges.

The grant will fund essential equipment including den-building kits, fire-lighting tools, and natural craft materials. Through nature-based learning, the project builds confidence, resilience, and social connection while embedding strong principles of environmental stewardship and sustainability.

“Your generous £250 donation has enabled us to purchase woodland tools and equipment, creating safe, healing outdoor experiences for families who have experienced trauma and crisis. Thank you for making this possible”.

Two representatives from The Selsey Pavillion Trust receiving a cheque from Wagner Renewables.

Selsey Pavilion Trust – Renewable Energy for Community Buildings

Selsey Pavilion Trust was awarded funding to support the installation of a small solar PV system on the Pavilion’s Heritage Hub, a community arts and heritage space reopening in 2026. The renewable energy system will generate clean electricity, reduce carbon emissions, and lower long-term operating costs.

By improving energy efficiency and sustainability, the project helps keep the venue affordable and accessible for local schools, carers’ groups, and volunteer-led organisations. The installation will also form part of the Hub’s educational offering, demonstrating how heritage buildings can adapt to climate challenges using renewable energy.

“We are incredibly grateful to Wagner Renewables for their generous £250 grant, which will go towards improving the thermal efficiency of the Selsey Pavilion. Restoring a building that is more than a century old comes with its fair share of challenges. Now that the Pavilion is watertight and secure, our next big focus is making sure it is affordable to keep warm in winter and cool in summer. Heating and cooling a large auditorium requires a huge amount of energy, which is why investing in insulation is so important at this stage. In the longer term, we plan to install solar panels on the roof, battery storage for when energy is needed most, and a modern heat recovery system. All of this will help us create a comfortable, energy-efficient space for theatre, cinema, live music and more, for the benefit of the whole community. Investing in Sustainable Local Communities.”
